Thanks!

Thanks so much for coming out this morning! It was great to see some new faces in our group! Sweetleaves was a great little spot for our gathering, and I think our waitress survived our chatty group and switching seats a-ok. Thanks to Roxanne for showing us her studio space, too!

Looking forward to a wine & cheese after the holidays!

ShootQ

UPDATE: The location has been changed to Stacey Kane's studio in Scarborough. Please email me, Stacey, or LaCour for details.

My dear friends from LaCour in Atlanta have designed an amazing web-based studio management software program for photographers called ShootQ. They have been on the road to educate photographers about their product since June, and will be making a stop at my new studio in Portland on November 14th. Be sure to take a peek at the informative ShootQ website here, and if it looks like something that might benefit you and your business, sign up for the set-up party here (attendance required to purchase the software). I love it, and I'm sure your business will benefit from it, too! ShootQ is also a sponsor of Roots Workshop.

photojournalism workshop

I am hosting a photojournalism workshop for wedding photographers in Cape Cod next summer (July 13-17, 2008). I've rented a house and have a great staff line-up. Curious? Take a peek at the website, www.rootsworkshop.com. If you're interested, please send me an email!

We're growing!

In the last few months, several women have been added to our list. Excellent!

I hope the summer is going well for you all, and I look forward to another gathering in the Fall when we can relax a bit, and share our experiences from the busy season.

Thank you!

What a success! I know I speak on everyone's behalf when I say a big THANKS for taking time out of your busy schedules to meet some fellow colleagues and share a bit of yourselves with the group.

I think this is something that would be fun to continue, perhaps once a quarter or so? Let me know your thoughts.

And here is our group photo... we all obviously could have done a lot better, but it's not terrible considering it's a point & shoot taken by our great waiter (who knew mostly all of our names by the end of our lunch. I knew those nametags were a good idea!).

weather!

Oh, dear. It figures that we'd get hit with a snowstorm after months of diligently planning this lunch! I've already heard from a few women who can't get to us today because of weather or sick children. Please call or email to let me know if you won't be able to attend so I can let the restaurant know asap. Thanks!

Welcome!

Networking is the backbone of our industry. There are so many smart, forward-thinking women in our state, that I decided it would be fantastic to occasionally gather all this talent together for lunch. Alas, we'll have the first Maine Women Wedding Photographers lunch on April 4th.

In conjunction with that initial lunch, I've created this blog to allow us a space to share ideas and get to know one another. Please feel free to email me an idea for a post, or simply share your website with the group. I look forward to meeting you all soon!

kindly,
emilie
